2026 Betty Endicott Scholarship Recipient is Ashley Burkett.

The National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NCCB-NATAS) is pleased to announce that Ashley Burkett of the University of Maryland will receive the 2026 Betty Endicott Scholarship.
The Betty Endicott Scholarship is given annually from the NCCB-NATAS Chapter to full-time undergraduate or graduate students studying for a career in communications and/or broadcast journalism. Printable press release.
Ms. Burkett is a Journalism major at the University. She has worked as both an anchor, reporter, and videographer. She has also interned at WJLA and is currently interning for CBS Evening News. This is in addition to her roles as a reporter with the Capital News Service and as anchor and reporter for B1G+. Ms. Burkett has worked as a videographer for UMD Football and spent time in the United Kingdom as a sports journalist covering the Premier League. This is in addition to five semesters on the Dean’s List and maintaining a 3.93 GPA.
“We’re proud to provide these scholarships to budding communications and media professionals,” said Chapter President, Adam Longo. “Ashley is a wonderful example of the tremendous potential that is being cultivated in colleges and universities all over DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Our Betty Endicott Scholars are academically talented, tuned in to the challenges and opportunities in our industry and well on their way to making meaningful contributions to the work Capital Emmy Chapter members do every day,” he added.
Ms. Burkett will be honored at the 68th Capital Emmy® Awards on Saturday, June 20, at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
