STUDENT PRODUCTION AWARDS
The Capital Emmy Chapter of Nation Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) holds
an open Call for Entries for Student Production Awards every year.
Our purpose is to recognize outstanding student achievement in production by conferring awards of merit in the Chapter’s designated awards region. The presentation of these awards is intended to be an incentive for the continued pursuit of excellence by those studying media and journalism and to focus public attention on outstanding cultural, educational, technological, entertainment, news and informational achievements by undergraduate college and/or high school students.
Congratulations to the 2021-2022 Student Production Award recipients!
They were announced on September 29th by Wes Hall of NBC Sports Washington.
A crystal pillar will be awarded to the school and students responsible for the production will each receive a Student Production Certificate.
All College and High School students attending a school located in Virginia, Maryland or Washington, DC are eligible.
The student Call for Entries is released each Spring along with the eligibility period.

FACE TIME WITH THE PROS
The Capital Emmy Chapter has been hosting Face Time with the Pros for nearly two decades in the Washington, DC region. It is a unique opportunity for students interested in a career in the media
to connect directly with professionals in the field.
FaceTime with the Pros is traditionally held on a Saturday in early March at the
The Philip Merrill College of Journalism on the campus of the University of Maryland.
In 2021, Face Time with the Pros opened up to a national audience after COVID-19 caused the event to go virtual.
TOPICS
Participants included students from across the country: Maryland, Montana, Utah, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, New Jersey, Minnesota, Missouri, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, South Dakota, North Carolina, New York, Florida, and Washington, DC.

STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) offers several national scholarships for students. In addition, the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter
(Capital Emmys) offers a regional scholarship.
CAPITAL EMMY® BETTY ENDICOTT SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is in honor of Betty Endicott, the first female news director in Washington, DC. NATAS is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancement in the television arts & sciences.
The application period usually begins in March with mid-April deadline.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Be enrolled in an accredited two or four year college or graduate program in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, DC

Be a full-time sophomore, junior or graduating senior with a declared major in communications or broadcast journalism

Be a full-time graduate student in pursuit of an advanced degree in either communications or broadcast journalism

Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
-
Demonstrate an aptitude or interest in communication or broadcast journalism through coursework, extracurricular activities, internships, jobs and volunteer work

NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences offers several scholarships to
outstanding high school seniors planning to pursue television-related baccalaureate degrees.
Applications for national scholarships are usually open in March with mid-April deadline.
There is one standard application for all scholarships. Students select which scholarship(s) they believe they qualify for and provide the same set of core materials for consideration. NATAS Trustees and officials with the National Scholarship Committee will review applications and creative works along with participation from Univision Communications Inc.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

School name, address, and website are required and an advisor name, phone, and email are optional.

One example of creative work which includes the location and student’s role. You also have the option to upload three video files and you may list up to 10 additional creative works or work experiences without video files.

Career Aspirations Essay (100-250 Words) Describe what you would like to do upon graduation from high school. Indicate which colleges or universities you would like to attend and your reason for their selection. Also indicate the kinds of employment you hope to obtain once you complete your college education.

Creative Essay (200-500 Words) Which continuing television program, past or present, has most influenced your life and why? (Be sure to select a multiple-episode program, not a single program or mini-series. Also, do not select a newscast or news-oriented program such as 60 Minutes or Frontline.)
